My story starts out when I was 16 years old. My stepfather let me borrow his Can Am to drive to school in once I was a junior, as long as I contributed to the car payment and put gas in it, if needed. Everyone at school thought I had the coolest car ever. I was actually cool. Until one day when it had been raining out and after school I pulled out in front of another car thinking I had time, but I ended up fishtailing and hydroplaning into a telephone pole. Luckily nothing was hurt but my heart. I had no idea what I had done. I didn’t know the originality of the car or the power it had. Not that I would have cared at 16. Fast-forward 15 years to now. I told my husband if he ever saw one for sale to buy it. Of course by now I realized the rarity of the car and never expected him to actually find one. The owner, who watched the car come off of the assembly line, was cleaning out his garage and put it out front with a for sale sign on it. I don’t think the poor old guy actually thought someone would stop. (It was somewhat off of the beaten track) Well to make a longer story shorter it is now ours. It has 30,000 original miles. Always garaged. Nothing faded at all. Show condition. It all has matching #'s. We paid $10,000.00 for it and I am sure it is worth more than that. But to me it is priceless. I guess you could say I got the best Christmas present last year that I ever could have asked for. Getting ready to get my personalized plate for it "CHNC 2". She is my second chance and believe you me, she is well taken care off.
